For Australian doctors

Privacy

pocdr.au sets no cookies of its own and has no accounts. We count visits, but not who makes them. The one thing that can identify you is an email address you give us for job alerts. This page lists everything we count and keep, who else handles your visit, and what happens to anything you send us.

Who runs it

pocdr.au is run by a medical student. Email jobs@pocdr.au with any question about this page, or to have something you sent deleted.

What we count

We count visits with GoatCounter, an analytics service designed not to track people. For each page viewed, it keeps at most:

Kept
The page's address, the page that linked to it, your browser and operating system, your screen width, your language, and the country your IP address is in.
Not kept
Your IP address, your browser's full identifying string, or any ID that follows you. To tell a first visit from a repeat, GoatCounter holds your IP address and browser in memory for up to eight hours, then discards them.
On your device
GoatCounter stores nothing: no cookie, and no local storage.

On Doctor jobs, a search is recorded only as “(search)”, never the words you typed. Your browser still sends the page's full address, search included, with each count. GoatCounter reads it only for campaign tags, and doesn't keep it.

We count clicks on Apply by job and board, and clicks on the links between our tools by link. Neither count says who clicked.

The MBS Companion and the payslip check work entirely in your browser. Your fees, shifts, hours and pay are never sent anywhere, unless you tick the box to include your calculation in a message (below).

Both tools also count how they're used. These counts go to our own Cloudflare account, not to an analytics company:

  • The MBS Companion counts which screens are opened, which item numbers are copied, and searches that found nothing. A search is dropped if it contains an email address or a long number.
  • The payslip check counts how far you got and which result came up, as fixed words.

Neither count links one visit to the next, and each tool has a switch to turn it off.

We honour Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. If your browser sends either, none of these counts is made, on any page of pocdr.au.

What stays in your browser

A few things are kept in your browser's own storage. They're never sent to us.

  • Your Night shift setting.
  • On Doctor jobs, when you last opened each list, so the jobs added since can be marked.
  • On Doctor jobs, the jobs you star, and their closing dates. The shortlist page's address lists the starred jobs, so you can bookmark or share it. That address holds nothing else, and visits to the page are counted without it.
  • In the MBS Companion and the payslip check, whatever you choose to save.

Job alerts by email

On Doctor jobs, any list can email you its new jobs. If you ask for that, we keep:

  • your email address;
  • the search (the list's filters and any words you searched for);
  • how often: each morning or each Monday;
  • a random code that the links in its emails carry, and when you asked, confirmed and were last sent jobs.

Nothing else. Nothing is sent until you confirm through the link we email you; an alert that isn't confirmed is deleted after 7 days. Your address is used only to send these emails, and never put in a web address or counted by our analytics. The emails have no tracking images, and their links go straight to the job pages. Cloudflare's Email Service sends them for us.

Every email has an unsubscribe link, which deletes that alert, and a link to see and stop all of yours. When none is left, your address is gone. You can also email jobs@pocdr.au to have them deleted.

Cloudflare

Cloudflare hosts pocdr.au, so every request passes through it, including your IP address, as with any web host. For requests our own code answers, Cloudflare keeps a log for 7 days. It records each request's address and other details of the request and the response. We read it only to find and fix faults. On Doctor jobs, that address includes anything typed into the search box.

Cloudflare also adds a small script to each page to check for bots. Every page of pocdr.au blocks it except the payslip check. There, it runs and sets one cookie, cf_clearance, which holds the result of the check in a form only Cloudflare can read. The cookie lasts a year and is sent only to pocdr.au. It's used only for Cloudflare's bot checks: our own code never reads it, or counts anything with it. Occasionally, on any page, Cloudflare may ask a browser it suspects is a bot to prove otherwise. Passing sets the same cookie.

If you send us something

  • An email to jobs@pocdr.au, including a report from a job page, is sent from your own email app. Cloudflare forwards it to the person who runs the site. We use a report only to fix the listing, and any email only to reply to you. We never add your address to a mailing list.
  • A correction sent from inside the MBS Companion is stored in our own Cloudflare account, so the entry can be fixed. Your name and role are included only if you type them.
  • The payslip check's message form is delivered by Web3Forms, an email service. A message includes the email address you give, so we can reply; your name, if you give it; and your calculation, only if you tick the box to include it.
  • If you “shout me a coffee”, you pay on Stripe's own page, under Stripe's privacy policy. The person who runs the site sees what Stripe shows any seller, such as your name and email address, and does nothing else with it.

To have anything you sent deleted, email jobs@pocdr.au.

What pocdr.au doesn't do

  • Set cookies of its own, so there's no cookie banner. The only cookie is Cloudflare's, on the payslip check, and it's used for the bot check alone (above).
  • Have accounts or sign-in. A job alert is not an account: it is the address and the search, and nothing more.
  • Take applications. Every Apply link opens the employer's own ad. What you send there is between you and the employer, under their privacy policy.
  • Use advertising networks or tracking scripts. We sell nothing about visitors, and share nothing except as this page describes.
  • Tell other sites which page you came from. A link from pocdr.au tells the site, at most, that you came from pocdr.au.
